Residents of One River Point’s luxury tower are likely to meet many interesting and well-connected people among their neighbors. But when ready to search farther afield for business or social opportunities, Miami offers many ways to expand your personal networks.
While growing your Miami network, you can patronize the arts, get a glimpse of the latest fashions and learn a few new things.
In 2008, CreativeMornings began in New York to provide the creative community with a monthly opportunity to meet and inspire each other. The concept spread to Miami in 2013 and now reaches a total of 170 other cities worldwide.
The concept is simple: Attendees gather once a month for coffee, breakfast, and inspiration from a local speaker. Some have characterized the gatherings as “TED Talks’ little sister.”
Past talks have included “End Sex Trafficking,” “Redefine What it Means to be Human” and “Creating Constructive Change.”
Miami’s CreativeMornings take place on the last Friday of the month at 8:30 a.m. Admission is free, but you must RSVP. To stay on top of the schedule, sign up for the newsletter at: https://creativemornings.com/cities/mia

The Young Artists’ Initiative supports young artists in the visual arts, music, and architecture. Its exhibitions mix music, art and culture and attract some of Miami’s biggest trendsetters.
YAI’s exhibitions seek to stand out by encouraging social interaction between the artists and the attendees, melding entertainment and culture.
The most recent effort was RAW, a pop-up exhibition during Miami’s Art Basel in December. The three-story pop-up in Miami’s historic post office building featured the work of 50 young artists.
Information about YAI’s next exhibition will be posted at http://youngartistinitiative.com/
Although it’s no New York Garment District, Miami has a thriving fashion scene that boasts mainly smaller events featuring emerging designers. One of the best known is Miami Swim Week in July, when all the hottest aquatic brands make a splash in the Magic City.
The smaller scale of these events makes them ideal for meeting other people who are passionate about fashion and to get face time with designers such as Dominique Siby, who designs luxury women’s bags; Fabrizio De Castro, who specializes in haute couture; and Jessica Anderson, who has designed for brands as big as Victoria’s Secret and recently unveiled a new tennis line.
Upcoming fashion events suitable for Miami networking include a Valentine’s Day cocktail reception at Felio Siby to celebrate the launch of the Mini Darya, the latest addition to Siby’s line of luxury bags. The event is February 9 at 1072 Kane Concourse, Bay Harbor Islands, FL 33154. RSVP at pr@feliosiby.com.
On March 11, the Little Lighthouse Foundation will host the Hearts & Stars Gala to benefit disadvantaged children. More information and tickets are available at www.miamifashionnetwork.com/miami-events.html
